Yom Kippur Afternoon Mincha Service 2021 | Congregation B'nai Tzedek

We begin the afternoon Mincha Service with the powerful and dramatic Avodah service, which recalls the ancient Temple ritual performed by the High Priest on this holiest Day of the Year. It is followed by the Torah reading and the Haftarah reading from the Book of Jonah, one of the best-known readings of the holiday. Rabbi Weinblatt, Rabbi Werbin, and Cantor Kapell will be leading services at B’nai Tzedek from the Berman Sanctuary. Yom Kippur Morning Service (w/Yizkor) 2021 | Congregation B'nai Tzedek

The components of the service which follow the Torah (01:33:25) and Haftarah Reading (02:00:49) are listed and explained below. YIZKOR (02:15:34) Yizkor consists of several brief prayers when we remember and honor our loved ones who have passed away in years past. Rabbi Weinblatt will offer a short reflection to introduce this part of the service. MUSAF (02:41:40) Musaf is introduced with the Cantor’s rendition of the Hineini Prayer, an expression of humility as he is now about to offer prayers on behalf of the congregation. MARTYROLOGY (03:43:25) In this part of the service we recall the sacrifices of rabbis during the period of the Romans who sought to extinguish Judaism. SERMON (03:20:44) At some point during the Musaf service, Rabbi Weinblatt will deliver his sermon, “The Enemies from Without and Within”.
